

Marc is available as a mediator!
Several years ago, Marc completed Alternative Dispute Resolution Interactive Training comprising more than one hundred hours. Recently, Marc has attended American Bar Association mediation training programs and the Harvard Mediation Intensive at Harvard Law School. Marc has been legal counsel at many mediations during more than 30 years of legal practice.
Marc prioritizes building strong relationships with clear communication and he enjoys building rapport with people. Marc knows what it takes to employ successful strategies so that disputing parties can own their own resolution outcomes.
Noted for his perseverance, hands-on approach and pragmatism, Marc McAree goes the extra mile.
Marc is a Law Society of Ontario Certified Specialist in Environmental Law. For more than 25 years, he has been a law partner at Willms & Shier Environmental Lawyers LLP. For more than a decade, Marc was a Co-Managing Partner of the law firm.
Marc is recognized for his excellence in advocating for clients in environmental civil litigation at all levels of Ontario courts, his defence of clients against environmental regulatory prosecutions, and his appearances before the Ontario Land Tribunal and other administrative decision-makers on appeals and at hearings.
He is named in Lexpert's Leading 500 Cross-Border Lawyers: A Guide to Doing Business in Canada. He is Best Lawyers 2019 “Lawyer of the Year” in Toronto for environmental law and is selected annually by Best Lawyers for environmental law and municipal law.
